What is “Equivalency”?
“Equivalency” is the document that determines the value of studies pursued within the framework of an educational system inside or outside Lebanon other than the formal Lebanese educational system.

If you have studied abroad and want to do the following:

continue your studies in basic education or secondary education

continue your studies in vocational education

continue your studies in Higher Education in Lebanon
-
work in Lebanon
If you have studied in Lebanon:

And, you have a technical Baccalaureate and wish to pursue study in Higher Education

Or, you want to move from vocational and technical education to secondary education.
Or, you have a foreign nationality and want to continue an educational program which is officially recognized in Lebanon.

If you have studied abroad at the stage of basic education from grade 1 to 6 (included) and want to pursue your studies according to the Lebanese curriculum.
Are all diplomas eligible for an Equivalency Document?
No if:
-
If your diploma is not granted by the Ministry of Education or government's authorities in the country that issued the diploma;

If your degree was the product of apprenticeship training courses.
Which diplomas are eligible for an Equivalency Document?
All certificates given by institutes or schools that are officially recognized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the country where the certificate was issued, and is officially signed by the Ministry.
Which diplomas and documents are not eligible for an Equivalency Document?
Diplomas are not eligible for an Equivalency Document in the following cases:

Enrollment certificates issued by the schools concerned;

Educational documents associated with an educational program which is not recognized by governmental authorities;

Educational documents issued by an educational institution that is not recognized by governmental authorities;

Vocational certificates which are not a part of the credits of the official curriculum for the diploma;
-
A statement of grades which does not cover the whole academic year;
-
Copies of the statements that are not endorsed or stamped by the educational institutions or government authorities responsible for studies;
-
Documents sent by fax or e-mail;
-
Forged documents or documents that contain defects because of changes, corrections, or deletions;
-
E-learning certificates.
How to Check the authenticity of the Documents Submitted to the Equivalency Committee
The Equivalency Committee investigates and verifies the authenticity of documents submitted to it.
In the case of forged documents, penalties should be expected.
Reminder: according to the penal code, the use of forged or false documents is considered a crime punishable by law.
Can we pursue study according to the British educational system (GCE, and IGCSE) in Lebanon?
No, but a student can get an Equivalency Document for the GCE if he studied abroad and completed the following:
A. He succeeded in at least 12 school years
B. And earned five degrees (O Level) in the IGCSE and two degrees (A level) or 4 degrees (AS) in the GCE
Note: The second-language materials in the O and A levels are not considered in the Equivalency Document.
What does home schooling mean?
It's a case of learning at home or outside the school which is recognized by educational institutions and thus by a recognized body.
In this case, a student's final grades are usually signed by the school and consequently by the government authorities, for example: The "CNED" System in France or the "Comment dite" System in Canada, or "Home Schooling" System in the United States.
Is it possible to recognize this type of learning?
Yes, if it is recognized by the Ministry of Education or the relevant educational authorities in the concerned country
If I am a holder of an Equivalency Document, can I become a member of the Bar Association?
Only Lebanese citizens who have the French Bac can become members of the Bar Association (Law number…)

Yes,
If the academic sequence is justified before the intermediate certificate (ninth grade) or the secondary (Grade 12)
How many freshman terms are required in order to register into the higher level?
There is no stated limit on the number of freshman terms, but it normally takes two regular terms, or two regular terms and a summer for full time students to complete the freshman requirements. However a freshman student cannot register for higher level courses if the completed freshman credits are less than 30. But, if a student is left with a maximum of five uncompleted freshman credits, he/she may start registering higher level credits at the same time.this is allowed for one semester only. She/he should achieve all freshman requirements
